Perception:
How to Communicate What You See and
How to See What You Communicate
We don’t see with our eyes; we see with our brains. So it’s all about perception. A lot of “post-processing” occurs before the raw image from our eyes becomes a picture in our mind. Some of it is controlled by evolution, some by culture and some by habit. We’ll discuss just how we perceive things and how our cameras perceive things (spoiler — it’s very different). Then we’ll get to how we can use this knowledge to make images that are pleasing to the eye and also get our message across. We’ll also discuss when we should forget all this technical stuff and just take the darn picture.
“Perception” is the first part of our Composition Series. This episode is presented by our dedicated member Ray Keithley.
