You’ve asked me for years — how do I come up with my photos? What’s my creative process? It’s been hard to answer without feeling like I’m gatekeeping or giving every secret away, and still stay true to myself and do the images creative justice.

I did a version of this talk last year, but so much has changed — my
work, the software, all the options — while camera club rules haven’t. For this 30-minute program, I’m going to sacrifice one image and walk you through the whole journey, beginning to end, from field idea to final frame with a live edit. Ask questions as we go — I’d rather show you how I think than hand you a recipe.

Bio: Lori Townzen is the Peoria Camera Club’s Program Director and a two-time Best of Show winner in creative photography (2024’s “Grease and Gears” and the 2025 Open-category winner). Photographing as rubyzenvisions, she documents the small moments of nature most people hurry past.
Lori owns Zen Media Studios LLC and produces Weekend Discovery TV, airing monthly on WTVP.
